These Decodable Passages are best used with a child who has learned basic phonics. The passages are aligned to the basic skills on the phonics continuum and offer reading practice opportunities along with comprehension questions.

There are two Decodable Passages for each of the basic skills.

  • Short vowels (corresponds to PLL Skill 2)
  • Short vowels with consonant blends (corresponds to PLL Skill 3)
  • Short vowels with digraphs (corresponds to PLL Skill 4)
  • Long vowel silent-e (corresponds to PLL Skill 5)

For children who are reading, these materials can be combined for a more robust lesson.
