How it works:

Transportability of our graphic organizer from our text to YOUR class text is key! Through our lessons, students learn the vital core skills needed to apply/transport their knowledge to materials in the curriculum.

  • Educators first provide instruction on the standard using the lesson and our specifically designed text. The lessons were specifically developed to provide numerous examples of the target standard embedded within the 4-paragraph text.Students build their knowledge of the standard by citing textual evidence and recording responses in the graphic organizer included.
  • Students then apply and practice the concept learned in the mastery lesson as they read their existing classroom text.
    • For example, if Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech has been used to teach figurative/connotative language in the past, educators can continue to use it. Students are able to record figurative/connotative language examples from “I Have a Dream” into their graphic organizer.
  • Just as younger students transfer phonics concepts to text, the graphic organizer assists older students in transporting the concepts learned in the lessons to classroom text.

Not just aligned with the standards, it teaches the skills of the standards! Written after the final release of the Common Core State Standards, Linking CCSS to Your Curriculum is a vital tool for seamlessly integrating the Common Core State Standards into your Middle School curriculum.
