Teachers have been learning about the Common Core standards over the past couple of years. Although teachers are responsible for helping students achieve the skills described in the standards for their own grade level, the skills develop in a progression from kindergarten through high school. Yet since the standards are provided with tables containing a couple of grade levels at a time, it would only be possible to see one standard develop across all the grade levels by turning to 4 different pages in the standards document. For example, to see the progression in expectations of reading standard 1 for informational text, a teacher would have to look at 4 pages: grades K-2 (page 13), grades 3-5 (page 14), grades 6-8 (page 39), and grades 9-12 (page 40).
To help teachers see that progression, 95 Percent Group developed a booklet that displays each standard on a single page with informational in one column and literary in the other column.
