Job Opening: Accountant

Responsibilities include month-end closings, financial statement and reporting package preparation, and account analysis. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the implementation and testing of new business critical software applications. An important aspect of performing these duties is the documentation of processes and procedures, with an eye toward continuously improving and streamlining processes.

Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Reporting:

  • Responsible for journal entries and month-end closing of general ledger
  • Prepare month-end financial statements and financial/sales reporting package
  • Actively involved in the budget and budget update process
  • Prepare various financial analyses, including account and “budget vs. actual” analysis

Systems:

  • Assist in the implementation and testing of new Professional Services Administration (PSA) software
  • Document policies, procedures, and workflow, working toward process improvement
  • Assist in the integration of new computer systems (time management, time and expense reporting, etc.)
  • Work in test database to analyze the impact of new transaction flows

Maintaining Product Inventory:

  • Work with outside supplier to ensure proper shipping and inventory procedures
  • Monitor inventory reports from outside vendor to ensure that inventory levels are accurate and that there are no losses of inventory
  • Work with VP, Finance, to ensure that adequate inventory levels are maintained and orders for additional inventory are placed, balancing the cost to produce with the desire to maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Evaluate how to use QuickBooks to manage inventory levels

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of professional accounting experience
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel background
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Experience in streamlining processes or initiating process improvement, a plus

Job Opening: Client Manager, Consulting Department

Role:

Primary responsibility: Manage overall relationships between 95 Percent Group, client school districts, and individual schools regarding the delivery of 95 Percent Group consulting services. The Client Manager will:

  • Collaborate with Manager of Consulting Services concerning delivery of service to client and the client’s student performance
  • Work with school district and individual schools to ensure that student reading performance improves and that 95 Percent Group services are delivered according to terms of contract
  • Gather and analyze student data to identify trends and monitor overall client performance
  • Maintain ongoing contact with principals and district employees to discuss progress of the engagement
  • Provide professional development for principals at client locations
  • Serve as the main contact between the district or school client and the consultants appointed to work on given engagements
  • Lead client team meetings/calls to keep all consultants working on the engagement aware of any pertinent information about the client
  • Manage the contracted services against a budget
  • Present workshops at client sites when needed
  • Facilitate follow-up grade-level team meetings about data analysis, grouping, and intervention instruction for below-benchmark students; use student performance data and information gained during visits to develop grade-level implementation goals
  • Provide coaches’ meetings for district sites when needed
  • Provide content expertise in the area of early reading instruction including the five essential components of reading, use of DIBELS and other assessment instruments, distinction between core (Tier I) and small-group intervention instruction (Tier II and III), and instructional intervention techniques
  • Actively participate and contribute during internal staff meetings and trainings, which occur through quarterly onsite meetings and regularly scheduled conference calls
  • Participate in developing new presentations, worksheets, forms, products, or processes to help teachers better learn how to use data and differentiate instruction when needed
  • Future responsibilities could include training of new consultants and managing and supervising their work, including assisting them with planning of client engagements
  • Additional future responsibilities could include facilitating consultants’ performance evaluations and setting of personal goals, and involvement in assigning consultants to engagements

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; skilled in working with senior administrative personnel such as principals and district management (e.g., superintendents, assistant superintendents, curriculum specialists)
  • Customer service orientation and ability to discuss and resolve client issues and concerns
  • Experience in a managerial/decision-making role at a district/school site
  • Experience as a project manager in an educational setting
  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in education and/or advanced degrees in education, reading, or special education
  • At least 5 years of experience teaching reading as a classroom or special education teacher
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or administrative position in a school or school district
  • Experience supervising professional staff in an educational setting
  • Experience and skills in providing workshops to teachers
  • Experience in a reading coach's role, such as a building or district reading coach, county or state reading specialist, or a Reading First coach or coordinator, a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of scientifically based reading research preferred
  • Knowledge and training of analyzing curriculum-based measures such as DIBELS and AIMsweb preferred
  • Knowledge about Reading First preferred, especially as a teacher or coach in a Reading First school
  • Training in any multisensory structured language approach, such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Language, or LANGUAGE! a plus
  • Training in LETRS a plus

Client Manager is a ten month (August – May) position with the possible option of daily rate work during the months of June and July.

Client Manager must be able and willing to travel extensively to work at clients’ school districts. Travel averages 40% over the course of the year, but may be higher during the academic semesters.

Job Opening: Consultant

95 Percent Group currently has openings for Consultants. The position is described below. We also have openings for less-experienced individuals and for retired individuals interested in part-time or partial-year work arrangements. Role:

A consultant's role is to provide professional development and coaching to teachers and reading coaches in schools and districts that are clients of 95 Percent Group. Consultants are assigned to work with a select number of clients each year in engagements to support a school or district as they implement new practices to provide early reading intervention. Our work is accomplished through sustained professional development and coaching with multiple onsite presentations and school visits throughout the academic year.

Our task includes teaching teachers how to:

  • Administer and score early literacy assessment instruments
  • Use the data to place students effectively in small groups
  • Write an instructional focus for each small group
  • Select appropriate instructional materials or strategies for the group
  • Provide intervention instruction that is differentiated to meet individual needs
  • Monitor progress of all intervention groups and individual students

Consultants provide training using PowerPoint presentations and practical techniques that have been developed by 95 Percent Group. Because of the sustained format of the professional development, consultants develop close relationships with reading coaches, teachers, and administrators at their client schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional development at client locations
  • Maintain ongoing e-mail and phone contact with key coordinators at client locations (often the reading coach, building principal, or district Reading First coordinator)
  • Analyze DIBELS and other assessment data on a periodic basis to track progress of the students in the client school or district
  • Provide targeted technical assistance to coaches and teachers
  • Provide content expertise in the area of early reading instruction including the five essential components of reading, use of DIBELS and other assessment instruments, distinction between core (Tier I) and small-group intervention instruction (Tier II and III), and instructional intervention techniques
  • Provide advice and training in the use of published intervention programs such as Road to the Code, Benchmark's StartUp and BuildUp Phonics, Harcourt-Achieve's Elements of Reading, and many more
  • Provide ongoing support, assistance, and advice to clients on the progress of their implementation of early intervention practices
  • Keep company president, Susan L. Hall, or designated 95 Percent Group manager, appraised and informed about all important developments in client engagements, including (but not limited to) success of specific workshop days, student progress, teacher knowledge deficits, and any potential impediments to successful implementation efforts
  • Share information with other consultants of 95 Percent Group and assist in developing new presentations, worksheets, forms, products, or processes to help teachers better learn how to use data and differentiate instruction
  • Actively participate and contribute during internal staff meetings and trainings, which occur through quarterly onsite meetings and regularly scheduled conference calls

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Master's degree in K–6 education and/or advanced degrees in education, reading, or special education
  • At least 5 years of experience teaching reading at the primary level as a classroom or special education teacher
  • Demonstrated experience working with children having difficulty learning to read and evidence of success in improving student reading achievement
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of scientifically based reading research
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with DIBELS and experience with other early literacy assessment tools, such as TPRI or PALS is a plus
  • Knowledge and training in widely used core reading programs, such as Open Court Reading or Harcourt Trophies
  • Experience and skills in providing workshops to teachers
  • Experience in a reading coach's role, such as a building or district reading coach, county or state reading specialist, or a Reading First coach or coordinator, is a plus
  • Knowledge about Reading First is preferred, especially as a teacher or coach in a Reading First school
  • Training in any multisensory structured language approach, such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Language, or LANGUAGE! is a plus
  • Training in LETRS is a plus

Job Opening: Literacy Specialist

95 Percent Group, an educational consulting company founded by Susan L. Hall, is seeking applicants for a full-time Literacy Specialist to work in our Buffalo Grove, Illinois, office. The focus of the company’s work is to provide consulting and professional development to help schools implement data-driven RTI practices to deliver Tier II and Tier III reading intervention instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop instructional materials to assist teachers in delivering intervention instruction
  • Write instructional lessons in alphabetic principle, phonics, and advanced word study, including multisyllable words
  • Work on a team to develop enhancements to the company’s diagnostic screeners for phonological awareness and phonics
  • Assist in the development of new products
  • Pilot new materials with students in partner schools
  • Work with the 95 Percent Group consulting staff to identify new product ideas

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Master’s degree a plus
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as K–3 classroom teacher, special education teacher, reading specialist, or tutor
  • Orton-Gillingham type of training (Wilson, Project Read, Slingerland, etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of phonics and phonological awareness
